DB Plus: Commodity Trading ERP, Field-Agent App & Public Site
Full trading-house ERP for a Ghanaian commodity trader: farm-gate purchasing, warehouse stock, sales and haulage, mobile-money treasury, farm lending, and self-balancing financial statements.
Overview
The complete back office for a company that buys maize, soya, groundnuts, and sheanuts from farmers, stores them, trucks them south, and sells them, alongside land sales and a farm input-lending programme. One Express API (80 models, 378 endpoints) and one Next.js app serving the public site, a 113-route admin console, and a phone-first agent app. About 204,000 lines of TypeScript and 1,400 tests.
The Problem
The business ran on notebooks, WhatsApp, and a spreadsheet, and at year end the owner had no defensible picture of profit. Cash is held by people rather than accounts. Stock has no single cost, because transport and fumigation charged against a load change what the grain is worth. And in a small office, the person recording a purchase should not be the one approving it. No accounting package models any of that.
